Ofcom Releases a Comprehensive Broadband Guide for Students
With the beginning of new academic sessions, thousands of undergraduates throughout the country are ready to pack their bags and start their new life in colleges. Apparently, most of them would want to stay connected to the rest of the world by internet throughout their terms, without having to spend all their spare time in college libraries.
Keeping this in mind, telecom watchdog Ofcom has announced the release a comprehensive guide on broadband connection that makes suggestions on better packages and explains to students the basic difference between mobile broadband and fixed connections.
The document is currently available in PDF format on the official website of Ofcom. It provides an insight into the essential difference between a Pay As You Go scheme and a proper Contract. It also provides suggestions on whether a student should go for a mobile broadband or a fixed line, and if he is opting for a fixed line, how he can download bulky files like movies and music in an affordable way, by sharing a single connection with his roommates.
However, Ofcom is not the only one focussing on the student community this year, as internet service provider BE has also announced its all new 9-month contract deal on its Unlimited and Pro packages for attracting undergraduates as well as other prospective users. The BE offer is open until the second week of next month. Another good place to look for information on what broadband to opt for is a dedicated broadband website, such as Broadband Genie, they offer specific information to students as well as information on student broadband deals.
