Personality Profile: Loose-Aggressive Players

Loose-aggressive online poker players are usually pretty easy to spot. If you see a poker online player who plays almost every online poker hand he’s one of two things he’s either extremely lucky and getting great starting hand after great starting hand, or he’s a loose player (he’s usually the latter, by the way). It’s easy to get a quick read on how a loose player plays his cards, because he’s seeing a lot of action, and if you see a player who’s entering a lot of pots and making a lot of moves-betting, raising and re-raising, basically splashing the pot all over the table, you can make a pretty reasonable assumption that this player is a loose-aggressive player, also known as a “Maniac”. Maniacs are players who love a lot of action and a lot of risk. They figure that they’re there to gamble, and they’ve bluffed successfully or drawn out often enough to make it a habit to play a lot of hands and throw their chips around. Lots of maniacs are new players who get overexcited, but there are also veteran players who like pushing people around or usually tighter players who are tilting or who have had a bit too much to drink.
