Is Virtual Office Space a Viable Real Office Space Marketing Tool

The 3-D virtual world online is expanding past social networking to the business community worldwide. ViO (Virtual Innovative Opportunities) offers virtual office space for forward-thinking companies that now include a prestigious law firm, Jones Walker. The firm expects to create the “virtual law firm of the future” in the Second Life Office Park at ViO.

Marketing Officer Carol Todd Thomas said that social media such as Second Life are the definitive wave of the future. She feels that they will be leaders in areas of marketing and recruiting as well as training for associates and service to clients. Jones Walker has been conducting meetings and training programs and is looking into the potential for continuing legal education for attorneys and clients in this virtual office in place of their real offices.

The law firm originally planned to use Second Life as a marketing tool, but Ms. Thomas said that there are unlimited possibilities with the virtual approach. They will not only be able to reach new markets and clients, but also lower the cost of having a physical office presence in widespread locations.

The president of ViO, Tony Coolidge, says that his company is very pleased to have Jones Walker as a member of the innovative and rapidly growing business community in the virtual office park at Second Life. He feels that firms will be a valuable resource for companies in the community, since virtual worlds are becoming more and more populated, leading to ‘virtual’ office developments that are interconnected with the ‘real’ world.
