In-Car Personal Internet Hotspot from 3

The newest device from 3 was unveiled recently in the Gadget Show Live that took place in Birmingham. This device allows people to access internet even when they are travelling in their cars. It would make those long car journeys less tiresome and boring.

3, a mobile broadband provider from UK, had released a personal Wi-Fi hotspot called as MiFi earlier. It gave an opportunity to the customers to use single mobile broadband connection for connecting many devices to the net. A new in-car version that is modelled on the same device has been launched by 3. This device makes a vehicle-wide hotspot through which people can connect various devices to internet such as laptops, gaming devices, iPod and mobile phones.

The head of internet services in 3, Mr. David Kerrigan stated that the study done by the company showed that more than one-fourth of the general public would like to have internet in their vehicles. The groups that were most interested included families and those who travel to work.

This study depends a lot on the sample as many other studies have given exactly opposite results. The latest Infornetics Research document revealed that even though the sales of mobile broadband instruments (see dongle pay as you go) has gone up by almost a half in last year as compared to 2008, the sales of various hotspots such as the MiFi has gone down by around one-third.

The price of 3’s in-car kit is just below £60.00. The kit includes the in-car MiFi modem, 1 GB data storage space, mains and car charger. Depending on the personal preferences of people, this new gadget could become very popular.
